A hardfork is a change to the JaxNet protocol that makes previously invalid blocks/transactions valid, and therefore requires all users to upgrade.

Need for protocol upgrades

Blockchain software requires timely updates, which improves its performance, efficiency, reliability, user experience or, simply, fix bugs. That’s true for any complex, sensitive and heavily used piece of software. However, the upgrade process of the decentralized blockchain protocol has a particularity.
